About Christopher Dremann

Mr. Dremann was born in Huntington, West Virginia and was raised in suburban Chicago, Illinois. Christopher has over 20 years experience as a patent agent and patent attorney and has written and filed more than 750 United States patent applications involving mechanical, electro-mechanical, bio-mechanical, optical and product design technologies. Mr. Dremann has also filed and prosecuted over 200 United States trademark applications. He is the author of a number of technical papers relating to crashworthiness of aircraft structures and law articles, including Copyright Protection For Architectural Works published at 23 AIPLA Q.J. 325, 333 (1995).
Education & Work Experience
Following graduation in 1982, from Purdue University, where he was awarded both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering (A+AE), Mr. Dremann worked as a project engineer, project manager and department manager for various Los Angeles, California based aviation and space technology companies that included McDonnell Douglas Helicopters and TRW. Most notably, Mr. Dremann was responsible for the mechanical design and integration of payload retention and deployment mechanisms for the Space Shuttle. He also was instrumental in the design and testing of composite material landing gear for the AvTek 400 all-composite business jet.
Mr. Dremann left southern California in 1989 to attend law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law. While attending law school, he worked as a patent law clerk with prestigious Chicago intellectual property law firms, first with McAndrews, Held & Malloy, and later with the firm of Welsh & Katz. Mr. Dremann also assisted the law firm of Sidley & Austin representing General Electric in the United Airlines Sioux City crash miltidistrict litigation.
Following graduation in 1993, Mr. Dremann joined the Charlotte, North Carolina firm of Bell, Seltzer, Park & Gibson (which was acquired by the Atlanta, Georgia firm of Alston & Bird in 1996 after his departure). From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Dremann was a partner in the Charlotte firm Dougherty and Dremann representing clients in intellectual property and entertainment law matters. During that time, he was successful in obtaining damages exceeding $1M for trademark counterfeiting and copyright infringement on behalf of a major karaoke music manufacturer. In 1998, Mr. Dremann established the Law Firm of Christopher C. Dremann and subsequently served as Senior Patent Attorney for the Hardware and Equipment division of Corning Cable Systems in Hickory, North Carolina, from 2000 to 2006. From 2009 to 2012 Mr. Dremann serves as intellectual property counsel for InVue Security Products in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Dremann is licensed as an attorney and counselor at law in the State of North Carolina, and has been registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. No. 36,504) since 1993. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina, as well as the Northern District of Indiana. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) and the Carolinas Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association (CPTCLA).
